Since 2008 Daniel has served on the faculty of the School of Architecture at NJIT where his area of focus is Building Systems and Technologies.  He lectures on topics such as Heating, Cooling, Ventilation, Lighting, Acoustics, Fire Protection and other miscellaneous systems.  This year he was presented with the Adjunct Professor Excellence in Teaching Award in recognition of his efforts.  

Historic Preservation Commission

Daniel Kopec was recently appointed to, and began serving on, the Borough of Glen Ridge's Historic Preservation Commission.  He will draw on his professional experience in the restoration and renovation of several early 20th Century homes in Glen Ridge as well as the numerous 19th C. brownstones that his firm has worked on in Jersey City and Hoboken.

Sustainable Business Registry

Daniel Kopec Architects LLC has been recognized as a Sustainable Business by the New Jersey Small Business Development Center.

Small businesses across New Jersey are starting to save money, share their successes and inspire other businesses by implementing sustainable business best practices.   Joining this list of small businesses, Daniel Kopec Architects LLC (DKA) located in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, became one of the first businesses in the state to be recognized as a New Jersey Sustainable Business.

In August of 2014, the New Jersey Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC) launched the New Jersey Sustainable Business Registry.  The registry is an Internet site where businesses that have implemented sustainable business practices can register their achievements and be recognized.

DKA achieved recognition through efficient energy usage within their office, maximized waste reduction and recycling efforts, and demonstrated a record of sustainable building principles implemented in their practice.  Additionally, Daniel Kopec, principal of the firm, is also the site manager for a community garden in Glen Ridge whose produce is donated weekly to area food banks.  The NJSBDC supports this added level of community involvement in recognition of the fact that sustainability encompasses more than energy efficiency - at its core it is an issue of humanity.

Engaging in ecologically sensitive design practices and improving the overall quality of our built environment are at the core of the mission of Daniel Kopec Architects LLC.
